Prescribe Workshops deliver creative workshops in unlikely settings which unlock hidden talents, build confidence and social connections for those that need it theworkshops are held in Health Centres and Gp’s Surgeries reception or community spaces.
Participants in the last year have been homeless, the long term sick, seniors, family groups, office workers and Health Visitors all united by the urge to feel better through learning a new skill and sharing time creative time with others .
Our name- Prescribe Workshops came from seeing the benefits of delivering activities in a large Health Centre in Brixton over ten weeks in 2014.
As Michael Dixon, Chairman NHS Alliance explains in the The Guardian (Sept 2013) – “Social prescribing is the use of non-medical interventions to achieve long term behaviour change and improved self-care.”
The positive impacts of social prescribing include –
- Improved self esteem
- Participants feel less isolated
- Improved wellbeing
- Connecting with other local services
- Improved concentration and self confidence through trying something new.
Our workshop facilitators take a person centred approach with the public, acknowledging that the hardest part for many is having the self confidence to join in. Our small team have twelve years experience of working together to deliver high quality creative workshops. We can offer bespoke workshops for Health Centres, providing all materials and are fully insured and DBS checked workshop facilitators.
